Sculptures

As for the sculptures found in the Basilica, we would like to highlight two particular series of sculptures:

The most important and remarkable sculptures of the Basilica are the capitals, which are the works of Mr. Émile Brunet. He practically wrote the Gospel in stone, as he portrays the life of Christ in a most brilliant fashion. These capitals are among the most beautiful in the world.
The sculptures found on the pews evoke creation: flora and fauna. A different animal and plant are sculpted into each of the 260 pews of the Basilica. These sculptures, as well as the statuettes carved into the sanctuary pews, are the works of Mr. François Moroder.
